July 14th: Armenian civilians targeted / Azeris lost 10 drones / Press conference:
Azeris fired 3 shots from GRAD unit towards Armenian Berd city 10km within Armenia.
Azeris placed an entire artillery division next to their settlement, so any suppression of fire would result in Azeri civilian casualties.
We shut down 10 Azeri drones since July 12th.
No Armenian border villages have been emptied for safety reasons.
There is no need to draft the reserves right now.
The shootout stopped at 18:00 on July 14th.
July 14th update: Hermes 900 drone
Here is more info about the Hermes 900 Israeli-made Azeri drone. It was shut down by "OCA" unit modernized by the Armenian engineers.
The shooting of this drone was "unprecedented". These drones cost $30mln and they're exclusively used by Azeri Border Guards and not the regular army. Azeris purchased 15 units in 2016. These aren't suicide drones, but they can carry 350kg load or act as surveillance devices:
Armenia shoots 2 more drones at night / Total 13
Right before the relative calm, at around 23:00 the Armenian army shot down two more Azeri drones. The remnants fell in the buffer zone.
13 drones have been shot so far: 10 combat and 3 surveillance.

Azeri protesters storm the mini-majlis
Late July 14th a few thousand Azeri nationalists gathered in front of the Parliament building with pro-war slogans. Soon they entered the Parliament building while chanting "Karabakh is ours". Some damage was done to the walls.
Not long after the riot police came and kicked them out. The whistling crowd redirected their anger towards the forces. The police pushed them further away from the entrance, while many protesters expressed dissatisfaction.
When the crowd didn't voluntarily disperse, the police used a water cannon to cool them off.
Many of the protesters were Azeri border villagers who went to Baku to demand weapons so they can fight. In the beginning, many were demanding Aliyev's and army officials' resignation, but the crowd changed its rhetoric to be pro-army instead.
Thousands of Artsakh residents volunteer to join the army
In the past few days, thousands of Armenians from Artsakh went to sign up to join the army. "The flow hasn't stopped yet," said Artsakh govt, "dear volunteers, don't feel upset if you're rejected, the Armenian army is successfully handling the situation on the border."
"Armenians are no enemy of ours,"
…said ethnic Talysh activist Zabil Magerramov, while accusing Aliyev regime of "once again showing its true colors".
"He wants to drag people into war, which is only beneficial to the ruling elite. They want to distract people from COVID, low oil prices, struggling economy," said Magerramov.
"We encourage Talysh not to participate in these acts that go against our national interests and turn us into political cards in the hands of the regime."
Armenia: 4 deaths. 1 critically wounded. 5 medium wounds. 4 are currently being treated for light injuries and will return to service next week. Another 10 earlier had "scratches" and returned to their duties "within hours".
Azerbaijan: 12 deaths. At least 5 wounded, while the true number is unknown. Today they buried the Major General and the Colonel.
Soldiers and families receive awards and aid
Pashinyan asked president Sarkissian to award the 4 fallen soldiers . Garush Hambardzumyan, Sos Elbakyan, Smbat Gabrialyan, and Grisha Matevosyan received medals posthumously.
Death or Category 1 disability: $120,000 - $170,000 aid depending on rank.
Category 2 disability: $60,000 - $110,000 aid depending on rank.
Three Colonels have been promoted as Major General.
The Police Forces will give aid to the two wounded officers.
The missing shepherd wandered into Azeri territory
Last week we learned how a 30yo resident of Nerqin Khndzoresk went missing. It was believed that he accidentally crossed the border. Today Azerbaijan confirmed that the man was captured on the Nakhijevan border.

Foreign affairs and response on July 15th

ARF activists poured borsch soup on the Ukrainian embassy in Yerevan as a sign of protest for their support for Azerbaijan. https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=2725856337649721
Armenian MP: Aliyev fell hostage to his own anti-Armenian rhetoric. He has done everything to make Armenophobia the main force for inner unity. While COVID rages on, he purposely allowed yesterday's protests, to show the world that "see, our people want war".
But soon the protestors changed their demands. They began to demand the military officials' resignation. That's when the crowd broke into Parliament building, and that's when the govt realized the protest was turning anti-govt. https://www.armtimes.com/hy/article/192672
Ilham Aliyev blasts Azeri MFA for "poor work" / Minister 404
During a conference, Azeri president Aliyev said everyone was on their place beginning July 12th except for Foreign Minister Mammedyarov. "I couldn't find him."
Aliyev then criticized Mammedyarov for discussing COVID cooperation with Armenia. "What cooperation can there be with Armenia?"
Context: Azeri Foreign Ministry has been at the center of raids in the past few weeks, with Mammedyarov's aides being on the receiving end. It is believed that Aliyev wants to get rid of Mammedyarov.
Update: Mammedyarov has resigned.
Theory: Aliyev's July 7th speech could explain the July 12th escalation
After the Azeri army used a military truck incident to incite the latest clashes, many people began speculating as to why. /u/Idontknowmuch
explains a theory by citing one of Aliyev's recent speeches and drawing parallels to his rhetoric that led to April 2016 battles.
