MOD: An old video was circulated today showing a confrontation between Armenian and Azeri soldiers on the border. It was from an earlier incident. Different parts of it are only now being shared by Azeris.
MOD: Azeri MOD spread misinformation claiming that the Armenian side opened fire towards Azeri positions in Gegharkunik for several hours. Moreover, it was Azeris who opened a non-targeted fire, to which we did not respond.
Azeri soldiers prevented residents of a Syunik border village from collecting the hay from a field near the border. The residents filed a complaint. The Armenian 1st Army Corps dispatched soldiers across the area, and the hay was collected.

One of the MP candidates was arrested and charged with voter bribery. The court instructed authorities to release the suspect before the trial. The suspect fled Armenia. The authoritiesd launched an international manhunt.
The letter says: even if the Odzun village mayor distributed voter bribes [on behalf of Kocharyan alliance], that is not a valid reason to assault him or to pressure him to resign. The bribery report had already been sent to prosecutors; let them handle it.
You should not urge mayors to resign in general. You can't say "our team won the majority in your settlement so it should be a message for you to resign because you no longer enjoy public support".

Canada will explore ways to help democracy in Armenia
Canadian MFA said they are working with their diplomats in the EU to find ways to strengthen democracy and institutes in Armenia, to help the civil society.
The research will last several months. The Canadian delegation will meet the members of the Armenian govt, NGOs, journalists.

Armavir residents held a protest over interruption of irrigation water
They closed the Armavir-Yerevan road to receive answers. The water delivery company representative met them and explained that a nearby water pipe broke three days ago and is currently being fixed.

Infrastructure Minister: We consider the improvement of the road network in Goris as a priority. The reconstruction of the riparian district continues. A number of damaged streets are being rebuilt.
The sidewalks near the Vararakn river are being rebuilt at the moment. The lighting network is being revamped. A bicycling path is being built.
It's part of a co-subsidy program by the federal govt, local govt, and World Bank.
North-South highway project continues: Talin-Gyumri
Construction of asphalt road has resumed in Trans-3 and 4 sections. The asphalt will have 3 layers: 8cm base, 7cm coarse, 5cm fine. In some areas, they had to add 10 meters of soil to level the road.
The Chinese construction firm decided to work every day of the week and even hired sub-contractors to meet the deadlines. They will asphalt a 50km section this year.
Chinese firm: we fell behind the schedule due to technical issues. Since it's summer now and the days are longer, we decided to take advantage of it.
watch out for the train
South Caucasus Railways says the number of incidents involving careless drivers has increased this year.
On Sunday, the train carrying 100 passengers struck a Mercedes with 6 passengers near Zartonk village. All 6 are family members. 4 were hospitalized with injuries.
The crossing had appropriate signs visible from 300 meters, audio and visual signals. The train needs 500-1000 meters to stop, reminds the Railways.
young diasporans visit Armenia as part of "Step Toward Home" repatriation-boosting program
Diaspora Committee: in the first three days, 100 young diasporans from 8 states visited Matenadaran, Oshakan, AGBU virtual university, and Tsitsernakaberd. They also began taking language, culture, and music classes.
diasporan doctor volunteers to treat wounded soldiers in Armenia
Doctor-physiotherapist Andre Daribdanyan flew from La Cañada Flintridge (Los Angeles County) to Armenia last month to help the wounded boys. Sometimes he has to use Google Translate to communicate with patients.
Q: what made you travel to Armenia?
Doctor D.: I'm from the U.S. but I'm ethnic Armenian so I wanted to come to Armenia and help. I admire the work done by the doctors and professors at the clinic where I work. I'd like to say that any Armenian who does not live in Armenia but wants to come, should come... Our soldiers are very resilient.
