Here is how the new driving points system works:
The driver has a pool of 9 points annually. Each violation deducts between 1-4 points, depending on the severity and whether others were injured. The license is revoked when the driver has 0 points.
The fine for drunk driving has been reduced from 100k to 25k because they figured the fine doesn’t keep people (especially with money) from getting drunk. Instead, drunk drivers will receive a 4 point ticket. This means the driver can only get away with two mild DUIs before losing the license for up to 6 months. If the alcohol is 1g in 1L of blood, or 0.5mg in exhale, the license is instantly suspended for 1 year, regardless of points.
People with disabilities won’t lose the license after running out of points, if driving is their main method of transportation, unless they lost the points due to DUI.
Assholes who put fake siren lights 🚨 or police-like signals on their cars will lose the license for 1 year, instead of the current 100k fine.
Covering at least one character in the license plate will cost a 20k fine and a point. Using no plates or fake ones: 1 year license suspension.
Fine for giving a plate to another driver was reduced from 100k to 20k, but 3 points will be deducted.
Intersection traffic violation 2pt, crosswalk violation including stopping on it 1pt, illegal u-turn or driving on wrong side 2pt.
Not stopping when instructed by the police: 6-12 month suspension.
Red light crossing fine increased from 20k to 25k, plus 2 pts.
11-30kmh above speed limit: 2pts. Up to 50: 3pt. Up to 80: 4pt. Above 80: 6 month suspension.
2 year suspension for driving under the influence of drugs, or for trying to avoid a DUI test by the police.
