The Republic of Armenia issued this stamp on March27, 2006, to commemorate the centenary of Vakhtang Ananian's birth.

Vakhtang Ananian is a renowned Armenian prose-writer.

In 2006 on the occasion of his 100th anniversary there were published his new collected works.

In the collected works were involved best stories, memories, essays and reflections written by Ananian in different years.

Materials which the author wasn't able to publish during his lifetime also were included in the "Unpublished Pages" section of the collected works. Those are materials left out of the author's collected works once, newly written histories, essays and reflections.

All that constituted only a small part of Ananian's literary heritage.
