Aginian Day School
The school was originally established in 1968 under the name of St. Mary's Armenian Apostolic Church Sunday school with the aim of facilitating the Armenian language and cultural education for the new Armenian generation.
The founders of the school were our very first resident Parish priest Rev. Voskan Kalpakian (now an Archbishop) and Mrs. Sirarpi Der Avedissian who is no longer the Principal of the school.
Since 1974, the school has been known as "Armenian Aginian Saturday School" named to honour Arthur Aginian the school's benefactor who passed away in 1985.
The school provides a learning program in Armenian studies: Armenian Language, Culture and History. In 1997 a new program was initiated to prepare students who wish to continue with their studies towards the Armenian VCE examination.
School Hours: 2pm to 5.30 pm on Saturdays. The Academic year is divided into two terms at the end of which examinations are conducted. The school holidays are according to State school regulations.
Aginian School gives their students the experience and opportunity to show their achievements by participating in performances of Armenian folk dancing, singing, drama and currently in an art competition provided by Hye Art.

AGBU Melbourne's Annual Camping Trip Attracts Old and Young
>From September 23-25, 2011, the AGBU Melbourne Chapter ran a weekend camping trip at Don Bosco Camp in Safety Beach, located near Melbourne, Australia. This year's event is the 10th annual camping trip organized by the AGBU Melbourne and the second year at the Don Bosco Camp.
Over 20 families took part in the trip. The annual camping trip weekend serves as a key tool in teaching children, as well as adults, about teamwork, community spirit, and discipline. Committee members, along with volunteer parents, worked together to run the kitchen and prepare meals for everyone in attendance. The camping trip coordinators included Berdj Tchakerian, Hovig Chahinian, and Hovnan Torosoglu.
