Highly recommended base for your stay in the Lori Region. Clean and comfortable, excellent food and homemade wine, very hospitable hostess and host, and internet as well.
Notes: A complete dump, but cheap and convenient for backpackers. If you have your own transportation or are fussy, don't do it!

Fantan Farms in Fantan Village
A homestay on an organic farm, Fantan Farms provides an authentic Armenian village experience for 1-4 guests.
Guests can help with farm operations, learn how to make lavash (Armenian bread), matzoun (yogurt) and muraba (jam).
Hiking, Biking and horseback riding are available.
All meals are organic, farm-fresh and complimentary.
There are some nice places in Dilijan from about $20 to $50, but you will have to ask around to find them. Camping is a great alternative in good weather.

Daravand Guesthouse was opened by an Armenian carpenter in Dilijan on the scenic road to Jukhtak Monastery. Built in a quiet canyon, the guesthouse is very comfortable and cozy. The canyon affords many hiking opportunities and has 2 monasteries in the forest within easy hiking distance. Seven guest rooms are available. A library and games room and billiard room are available for gaming. Open air dining area is also available, overlooking the beautiful valley. The bar, living room and nice garden provide areas for guests to congregate and relax. Ararat II Bed & Breakfast
Notes: Turn right after the steel bridge and right after a park. With a playground to your right, it is the small hotel on your left by the canyon. Beds are about $10/night, clean, hot showers and normal bathrooms, comfortable, good food available, but costs extra.
Notes: Across the river from the statue of Davit Bek, next to the amusement park. A good, solid place to stay in southern Armenia. The rooms are about $30/night per person, and they offer decent food at the restaurant.

Notes: This classic Soviet Motel on the very northern tip of Sevan costs about $20/night per person. It is well maintained with good amenities and a decent beach, but each time we have stayed there, someone in the group was bitten by a strange bed bug leaving big purple circles for a week or two. Can be impossible to get a room during high season (July/August). You must visit the 70's Soviet disco!

Notes: Cheap. Soviet hotel which has been well maintained and is still a pleasant place to stay. Quite an exception to the dozens of other Soviet hotels which are unbearably bad. Ask for a "Lux" room for an in-room toilet.
