Yohannes Hekimian passed away peacefully in Houston, at the age of 92.
Yohannes was the third son of the late Boghos & Hnazant Hekimian. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and pillar of the Armenian community whose life was marked by faith, service, and generosity. Born in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, he later relocated to the United States, finding his new and permanent home in Houston, Texas in the 1960s. From the moment he arrived, he worked tirelessly to build a meaningful life not only for himself and his family, but for the many others he helped along the way. He founded and successfully managed his own business of foreign car sales and services.
Yohannes played a vital role in the early formation and growth of St. Kevork Armenian Church, supporting the parish through personal donations, community fundraising, and a lifetime of dedicated involvement. His deep love for his Church, culture, and people made him one of the most trusted and respected members of the community.
Guided by compassion and a strong sense of responsibility, Yohannes assisted numerous families in relocating to the United States, offering guidance, stability, and hope as they began new chapters of their lives. Professionally, he served honorably as a police detective, known for his integrity and commitment to justice.
Beyond his service and work, Yohannes embraced life with enthusiasm. He was a skilled hunter, an avid racer, and a successful businessman whose drive and adventurous spirit were admired by many. His kindness, strength, and willingness to help others remained constant throughout his life.
Yohannes was married to Djulieta (Torosyan) Hekimian.
Yohannes’s two elder brothers, Khoren and Markar, predeceased him.
