Karapet Chobanyan

Karapet Chobanyan (born 25 February 1927 in Karzakh, Akhalkalaki, Georgia and died in 1978) is an Armenian scientist. He was a talented scientist and engineer whose study of the elasticity of metals led to a new method of welding. This method became an important progress in the science of Metallurgy which gave way to significantly increased strength of welded structures. His dicovery helped change the perception of the limited abilities of welding.

Karapet Chobanyan made the first discovery in Armenia and Transcaucasus which was registered in the Soviet Union's discovery registry under number 102.
