Hagop Manoukian
Hagop Manoukian passed away in March, 2012 at the age of 82.
Hagop was a graduate of the Melkonian Educational Institute in Cyprus, where he also had taught. Hagop and Serpouhi Manoukian then went to the Kevorkoff Armenian School in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia as teachers. After a few years at Kevorkoff, they operated a stationery store in Addis Ababa for a number of years before selling it and moving to London for a few years, then ultimately settling down in Canada.
Hagop Manoukian played the violin, taught music and also composed. He served Sourp Kevork Armenian Apostolic Church in Addis Ababa. He also taught and directed the Ethiopian Police Orchestra. After Armenia's independence, he taught at the Yerevan Opera as a visiting professor for a number of years.
He was married to Serpouhi, and together they had two sons, Sam and Vartan, and a daughter Ani.
