Dips/tahin (Molasses/sesame dip)
Dips-Tahin is a Dikranagerdtsi recipe for what may be described as Armenian peanut butter and jelly. It is used as a spread on Armenian bread, and makes a refreshing snack.
Dips or dibs in Arabic is grape molasses which is called Pekmez in Turkish. Tahin is tahini paste made from crushed hulled sesame seeds and olive oil.
Both are available at Mid-Eastern food stores.
1. Combine equal parts of dips and tahin in a bowl or jar, and mix thoroughly.
2. Apply a spoonful to a piece of Armenian Lavash or Pide Hats (Pita bread) and enjoy.
Store remaining spread in refrigerator.
