Hi Raffi,  I think you missed this one... please check the text under the heading "Armeniapedia" (http://www.armeniapedia.org/index.php?title=Armeniapedia); it's basically spam, and I wasn't sure if just erasing the text would solve the problem.  Thanks!

:Thanks, Vahe, I deleted it.  I think that the amount of spam will take a huge drop now since the newest version of the script has some features which make spam almost pointless...  --Raffi 18:41, 2 November 2006 (PST)

Armenian animated feature film: David Of Sassoon
Hello to whoever reads this email. This is Hayk Manukyan from Hayasapictures.com You may know the site and its main character named Harut. I've been making animated short toons starring Harut for the past 2 years and have teamed up with an American studio named Six Point Harness to produce a 6 episode series called Neenja starring Harut.

I have recently decided to take on a huge project known as "David Of Sassoon". I'm sure you've heard of him. This will be an animated feature not aimed at children, but all audiences. I strongly believe that our culture is full of great stories waiting to be shared with the world therefore I will do what I can to make this happen, and it will happen.

Currently I am raising $50, 000 out of which I have raised over $7,000 through donations from our viewers. The 50k will be used to create a 2 to 3 minute trailer that will then be used to attract investors for the final film.

The reason I am emailing you, and other websites, is because we can use as much help right now as possible. So if you would like to help by contributing your own donation or by just letting people who visit your site know about this big project, please visit http://hayasapictures.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=17&Itemid=31

Thank you

Armenian Transliteration Tool
Raffi,

You are a guy who knows if something like this is in the works.  This is a transliteration tool.  Do you know of anyone that has done something similar with Armenian?  We have been talking about integrating something like this with firefox to find a way around KDWin.  The goal is to help spread unicode Armenian scripting.

:Hi Jason, there is nothing like that online now, but it could be in development.  There are a couple of guys here that might know, I'd check with them.  Go to the www.econtent.am site and see if they can help...  or check all the submissions of sites in the appropriate category, maybe something is around?  I'd love it on my machine!  --Raffi 08:36, 14 December 2006 (PST)

Enrichment of  Armenian content on the Internet.
Hello,

Why can't we have books originally written in Armenian available on the Internet either as fac-simile or some other means (typed?).

I am not particularly religious,(I think of religion more of a national and cultural identity rather than having anything to do with the supernatural which is of course the product of the human intellect) but we could start with the Bible both in Ashkharapar and Krapar. For the people of Armenian ancestry who can't understand the language, this will provide a sort of Rosetta stone, since the Bible is translated in most of the world languages.

I am dismayed by the fact that there are so few references in Armenian on line. This is due to the fact that most Armenians express themselves either in English or Russsian or French.

Even the Vratsis have more stuff on the Internet. My wife is part Georgian originally from Tbilisi.

:Does Martuni touch Sevan's shores?  If not what major city in Gegharkunik does? -- Aivazovsky 09:45, 29 December 2006 (PST)

::Ah well, it'd be nice if that were the case.  It would be interesting to see if Gavar was ever located on the shore of the lake.  PS, you might want to check out the Igdir article.  I did a bit of work on it today.  If my Armenian were better, I would try to translate that Armenian text.  Cheers, Aivazovsky 15:49, 29 December 2006 (PST)

:::Nice work!  Very interesting stuff!  So "Tsolakert" really isn't Igdir, ah well.  I'm sure it had to have been called something else before the Turks came in.  From what I've read the word "Igdir" is of Turkic origins.  Is this just a cover-up - I mean, could it actually be an Armenian word?  If so, what does it mean?  I also found it interesting that the name "Kanayan" seems to have been very popular in the region (looks like "Dro" wasn't the only one). Any idea what "Artyunk" is?  Best, Aivazovsky 08:20, 30 December 2006 (PST)

::::By the way, could you change my user name to "Aivazovsky" after the famous Russian Armenian painter of the same name? Thanks! -- Aivazovsky 08:24, 30 December 2006 (PST)

phone number
Since I can't find any mail address to write this to, I'm forced to use this page.

I'm an Amsterdam citizen, but I'm getting phone calls meant for the Armenian Apostolic Church in Amsterdam all the time because your website displays my phonenumber in stead of theirs. Instead of 020-6201197, it should be 020-6201107.

I hope you'll correct the mistake.

Best regards, L. Sluiter

Opinion question
Hey Raffi, I have a question for you.  Do you think the word "Hayastan" sounds too Asiatic as opposed to European?  Should Armenians adopt the name "Armenia" instead? Hence then, I assume, we would have "Armeniayi", "Armeneren", and "Armener".  Just an opinion question. All the best, Aivazovsky 09:18, 1 January 2007 (PST)

:No problem!  I was wondering why I had the ability to do all this stuff.  Thanks! :) Best, Aivazovsky 09:47, 1 January 2007 (PST)

::BTW, any luck on finding information on the origin of the name "Igdir"? -- Aivazovsky 09:48, 1 January 2007 (PST)

A few more things.  Are there any other admins? Why did I become an admin?  And could you fix the bottom of the edit pages to mention that all comments must be signed by typing four tildes like so (minus the spaces)?: ~ ~ ~ ~ Thanks so much again! Best, Aivazovsky 10:03, 1 January 2007 (PST)

:Oh, and Happy New Year! :) -- Aivazovsky 10:48, 1 January 2007 (PST)

:There are a few others who have admin powers.  I gave it to you because I've seen your work for a long time on WP and when I saw that you were reverting vandalism yesterday I knew that it is easier for admins with the features we get to use, plus you could block users and mark articles as patrolled (only needed for pages which get spam a couple of times).  So there you go!  If people are around long enough they'll sign their comments - I don't think ppl read the bottom of edit pages anyway.  So Happy 2007 to you, and of course Hayastan! :-) -- Raffi 11:30, 1 January 2007 (PST)

::Thanks again! :)  I guess what really drew me to Armeniapedia is its freedom.  On Wikipedia, you would always have to resolve things with opposing editors with negotiations and concessions.  There were also too many rules to abide by. Here at Armeniapedia, one can openly express the truth about the conflicts in the South Caucasus.  This is especially the case with Karabakh which seems to always be under pressure from Azerbaijan.  What always puzzled me is how Aliyev states that Karabakh will be "liberated" and if need be "by force".  First, how can you liberate a country or region that does not wish to be liberated and second, how can one liberate anything "by force"?  Anyway, something to think about.  All the best, Aivazovsky 14:48, 1 January 2007 (PST)

The Yegvor Issues
Look up http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mushku To find more about Phrygians and Mushku or Mushki(Mushkitsi) These are Georgian tribes, they have nothing to do with our history. We are never remembered by the name Phrygians, but yet we are rememberd by Nairi etc etc. Greeks say there is no link with Assyrians referring to Phyrgians as Mushki, yet Moshchoi which Greeks use is Georgian tribes. We have always called ourselves with the name Armen. The most common Armenian name. A nationality just doesnt forget its name, or change names sometime in their history, it doesnt work that way. I have been searching, but coming up short.  I'm looking for some DVDs or videos that I can play for my 21 month old daughter in Eastern Armenian.  I have one that an aunt gave me, it is Dodi and Vaco, but it is Western Armenian and doesn't jive with the way my family speaks Armenian.  If you could point me in the right direction, I'd appreciate it.

TIMEOUT!!!  There will be no more conversation on this subject, and no changes to the article for the next 3 weeks.  I will not have a lot of online time and I do not want to have to deal with this issue when I do have the online time.  Take three weeks to cool off, and then we can discuss changes on the article talk pages, see if we can come to an agreement, and then proceed.  I hope that is acceptable.  I don't have time to deal with this or discuss it until then, so it will have to be.  Thank you.  --Raffi 11:58, 21 January 2007 (PST)

Higher Education
I was wondering if you could help me out. I have a friend that is here on a work visa from Armenia. He really wants to finish his schooling here to get his MBA. However, he really can't afford to do it alone. I was wondering if you knew of any programs....grants or scholarships...anything like this, that he may be able to apply for. He is Armenian, not american-Armenian so I thought maybe he might be eligible for some foreign study grant or maybe there are scholarships available specifically for someone in his situation.

Any help you could give me would be sooo great :) If you know of anything specifically, or can just give me ideas on where to look further or who else I can ask, thats awesome too. Thank you so much.

Sites allowing Armeniapedia use of materials

FAQ (frequently asked questions)

 1. Can I use material from Armeniapedia.org? -you can use it for your own private personal use and your classroom without asking permission. For use in publications and other websites - my policy is ASK ME FIRST! I usually say ok to requests to any use these materials with proper attribution, but not always. Same goes for photographs.
 2. Can I use material from Armeniapedia.org on Wikipedia.org? - again, you must ask, and again usually I am fine with it.
 3. Can I add material from Wikipedia onto Armeniapedia? -anytime, that is their policy, but please add the wikipedia tag to the bottom of the page to make sure the page complies with fair useage and gives proper credit.
 4. Can I add a page about myself? -sure, and any other Armenian or person place or thing related to Armenians!
 5. What if I want to add something, but maintain my copyright? -that is fine, just add it in a seperate section (or page) with the appropriate disclaimer and state that it should not be edited - though this type of material might eventually migrate to a sub page.
 6. How do I reach you? -I check this page often, so it is an ideal way to reach me. Also see Armeniapedia.org contact page
 7. Who are you? -see the Raffi Kojian article
