"1/64 Armenian" sounds somewhat strange to me. Even if it`s true, it would be something to make jokes about not something to take serious. If one is part of an ethnic group with 1/64 ancestory, then there wouldn`t be ethnic groups at all. -- Astuga 03:21, 2 Jan 2006 (PST)
- Hi Astuga. You can take it however you like. Seriously, jokingly, scientifically... I just think it's interesting and that people would enjoy knowing it. --Raffi 12:36, 6 Jan 2006 (PST)
- Very well, but of course the point isn`t how I take it, the point is if the listing of famous Armenians is to be taken serious. -- Astuga 11:06, 29 Jan 2006 (PST)
- The information is correct and informative, so it is a serious list, even if one or two of the entries are in a lighter spirit... --Raffi 23:11, 29 Jan 2006 (PST)
- Somehow you didn`t get the point! But do as you like, since I am not Armenian it`s ok if you make fun of yourselves. -- Astuga 10:52, 25 Mar 2006 (PST)
Ardashes (Arthur) Aykanian (Inventor - Flexible straw, Tupperware, Foam-Core, plastic Coca-Cola bottles)
Eliminate the reference to the Tupperware invention. Also the inventions regarding the Coco Cola bottle machine and the unramium clain. There are factual errors in these statements made by the person who submitted this article, without my review or permission. Thank you.
Although I am Armenian ( with some British ancestry ) and Diana and I are related through a common Scotish ancestor Sir Robert Hannay of Mochrum Park and Jane Stewart of Garlies, I will have to agree with the quote below; the Armenian ancestor was a fabrication in Diana Spencer's case and most likely an Indian servant that shacked up with T.Forbes/ East India Co . Armenian daughters were protected by family and church, and were probably children of merchant princes or Khojars and would not be let loose to live with foreigners. The Kewark woman and Theodore Forbes were never married it also has be noted by researchers. I have no problem with it either way, just shedding another perspective I am confident with.
And as far as genealogy goes, 4 grt grandparents matter as do earlier ones, however distant it may seemingly appear. I am happy to be aware of my 4th grt grandparents and some of my 10th cousins too, as in Lady Diana; Charles, 9th Earl Spencer; Ladies Jane and Sarah, even if they have an Indian ancestor.

" Appointed a Woman of the Bedchamber to Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother in 1956, Ruth functioned in a world where breeding and good behavior were all-important. While she could adopt the latter, there was no way she could invent the former. Her family was neither grand nor impressive. In fact, the only thing that put them beyond the ordinary was the secret they kept hidden. This was that her great-great grandmother Eliza Kewark was a dark-skinned native of Bombay who had lived, without benefit of matrimony, with her great-great-grandfather Theodore Forbes while he worked for the East India Company. Unsavory as the taint of illegitimacy was, even at that distance in time, it was nothing compared with the stigma of what was then known as "colored blood." Had it been generally known that Ruth and her children were part-Indian, they might never have made good marriages. Eliza's true race was therefore expunged from the family tree and she reemerged as an Armenian. This fiction was maintained even when Diana married the Prince of Wales."

Famous Armenians (comment)
I am very surprised to see that Charles Aznavour and Atom Egoyans' names were not added to the list Charles Aznavour is know as one of the greatest french singer of all time. He is a legend in France and in Quebec, Canada and I am sure that there is not one person who has not heard of him he is trully sensational. Also there is the world famous movie director Atom Egoyan who directed the very controversial movie Ararat about the armenian genocide that received rave reviews from all the critics.
- But they are on the list. Ishkhan 23:27, 1 February 2007 (PST)
