File:Hamalir1-rferl.jpg The Sports and Music Complex (Marzahamergayin Hamalir) was opened in 1984. Stairs along a cascade of fountains lead visitors to the Complex, reminiscent of the silhouette of a huge bird with open wings. The building itself resembles the Sydney Opera House of Australia.

Regarding the privatization of Hamalir by Murad Muradian, ARAVOT reported that yesterday the newspaper received a call from Moscow from Harutiun Muradian, an MP from the National Unity party and the elder brother of Murad Muradian, the owner of BAMO Company. According to H. Muradian, someone may have suggested that Murad buy "Hamalir" Complex, but, "I am sure and state with responsibility that this advice would not be successful and this is not kind advice.” The paper goes on to say that yesterday they received another call from the residents of Ajapnyak community, who said that the inside of the “Hamalir” complex is undergoing demolition.
