GARINE TOROSSIAN is a Toronto-based filmmaker. Born in 1970 in Beirut, she attended film, photography and English language courses at York University in Toronto, Canada, ands specialized in photography, later moving onto cinema. Gariné Torossian is a self-taught filmmaker and photographer. Dozens of her films were shown internationally at festivals. Her university retrospectives took place in the Museum of Modern Art of New York, Stan Brakhage's first person cinema, Cinematheque of Yerevan, Berlin Arsenal and Telluride Festival. She was nominated at the Berlin, Melbourne and Houston film festivals for various short films. Her film, Girl From Moush (1994), was awarded best experimental film at the Melbourne Film Festival.
